Houston City Events

World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest

This event is one of the country’s premier barbecue events, so grab your bib and dig in! If you’re in Houston in March, make sure to drop by for tastings, competitions and other fun surprises.

Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo

This classic Texas three-week extravaganza has been a local institution since 1932. Each spring, join thousands of people for a rodeo parade, exhibitions, trail rides and music shows. You won’t want to miss it! Yee-haw! Book a rodeo shuttle today!

Fiestas Patrias

Every September 17th, one of the biggest celebrations in the Southwest celebrates Mexico’s independence from Spain. Join the huge crowds for this community celebration, including parades, traditional dance performances, and other cultural activities. At the end of the celebration, Miss Fiestas Patrias is crowned, so don’t miss out!


NRG Stadium

Formerly known as Reliant Stadium, this massive arena hosts annual events such as NFL games, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, the Texas Bowl, and international soccer matches.

Toyota Center

This indoor arena in downtown Houston is one of the best places to catch a sport or entertainment event year-round. It is home to the NBA’s Houston Rockets, and hosted Latin Grammys in 2008.

Space Center Houston

The official visitor center of NASA’s center for human spaceflight activities is one of Houston’s top spots to visit while you’re in town. With informative tours and fun exhibits, this is the site of pilgrimage for space fans from all over the world.

Museum of Fine Arts Houston

One of the largest museums in the country and best places for art is Houston’s Museum of Fine Arts. This institution has several world-famous works from Renoir, Matisse, Monet and more, and sees millions of visitors a year.

Houston Grand Opera

Founded in 1955, this world famous opera house has some of the most critically acclaimed music in the country. If you’re looking for something to do while you’re in town, take in a performance at this beautiful venue.

There are so many fun ways to see Houston, and Vinnie Van GO has rounded up some of his favorite tour experiences in town. There are many bike tours around the city that are fun, informative, and great exercise! Bayou City Bike Tours is known to have one of the best. If the weather is too hot for a bus, try out the Cool Bus. This party bus will take to all the best nightlife spots in town. Another 21+ experience is the Texas Beer Bus, a beer tasting and tour experience.

You can’t go to Houston without eating some delicious barbecue. Vinnie Van GO has pulled together the city’s best spots just for you!

This mobile smokehouse may not look like one of the area’s best places for barbecue, but you’d be surprised. Stop by for the best brisket, smoked pork butt, and ribs the city has to offer.

This unassuming storefront holds some of Houston’s best smoked meats behind it. Try out the pulled pork on a po’boy — it’s one of Vinnie’s favorites!

Corkscrew BBQ

This spot is worth the short shuttle drive from Houston city center. Locals all know that the Bobert sandwich is one of the best around, but if you’re feeling really hungry, The Whole Hog is the one to try out.
